Mr. Empens was my piano teacher from age 6 to 19. I was a bit of a lazy student and he encouraged me to be more diligent. He is very even-tempered and amicable, and pressured me to fulfill my potential for the sake of the greater enjoyment I would derive from it. Many kids I knew gave up instrument lessons because they took too much time or were an added source of stress, but I feel that Mr. Empens' willingness to work with me at my own pace helped me to see learning piano and increasing my musical skill in general as a lifelong process to be enjoyed. I live on the other side of the country now but continue to teach myself different works of the composers he introduced me to, and I feel indebted to him for sparking my interest in a pursuit which brings me such fulfillment.

I received lessons from Mr Empens from age 5 until I was 13. I'm 28 now and I still have very fond memories of this man. Patent, friendly, funny, and skilled are good words to describe him (and a bit of a wise guy!). He is a first rate piano teacher and has the ability to turn you into a first rate pianist. A pleasure to work with.
