How To Become A Pianist

The piano is one of the most common musical instruments that people learn to play. Taking piano lessons is really fun. Even if you don’t have a piano at home you can still take lessons. Not tied down to any one genre, Troy Price is the “go to” guitar instructor for beginners and pros alike in Central and Western Massachusetts. With the ability to adjust to each student’s individuality and their need for the same material to be conveyed in so many different ways, he has developed methods to explain just about every essential musical concept effectively. Through thousands of hours of teaching both privately and in group classes/clinics over the past 15+ years, his methods are finely tuned and effective. Troy maintains a busy teaching and performance schedule, playing around 50 dates a year and holding 60-70+ private students a week. He teaches at Cushing Academy in Ashburnham and at his home studio in Gardner. Holding a degree in Commercial Music Performance from Michigan State University, Troy’s teaching is based on an in-depth study of advanced techniques and concepts while making sure his students gain a core-knowledge of music theory along with the “chops” they need for whatever style they’re focusing on. He is a specialist in preparing students for college music programs as well as taking established players to the “next level” in all aspects of their playing. He continues in his own study as well (currently working towards a Master Guitar Certificate at Berklee College of Music) so he can keep growing as a musician and teacher. Troy considers himself blessed to be successful in a career he truly loves and gets the most enjoyment watching his students, both past and current, grow into some of the most talented musicians in the area. As a parent of a student of Troys I would just like to say that there is no better person I know of to teach. The skills, patience and dedication he has for them is beyond belief! My son has been taking lessons from him for over 4 years now and Troy has gone above and beyond all expectations!!! He has helped him with his music auditions for college and many other things not any teacher would do.I have been playing for many years but wanted my son to learn theory and reading like I never did, when my son leaves for college this fall (in a music program that he,s yearned for) I might take his spot with Troy to better myself in my abilitys! Thank you Troy you truely are the best!!!
